Dreaming of warmer days: Start prepping your little one’s spring wardrobe
We’re well and truly in the thick of winter right now and your little one looks like an adorable burrito in their cosy winter duds and all they want to do is splash in muddy puddles.
So their spring wardrobe might be the last thing on your mind right now… but before we know it those warmer days will be here (or if we’re lucky we might even get a few of those glorious warm winter days too).
We know kids go through their clothes SO quickly – and let’s face it, preparation is 80% of parenthood – so the time to start planning their new season wardrobe is now.
That’s why, In partnership with H&M, we’ve picked some of our favourite spring buys for your mini as well as some helpful tips for dressing for shoulder seasons.
1. Light layers
Spring typically means being prepared for anything! So think layers, layers layers. Like jackets that aren’t too heavy but will still take away the chill when needed – or lightweight raincoats. As well as soft knits that can easily be layered when needed.
2. Have fun with colours and prints
Florals for spring? Groundbreaking! But seriously, is there anything sweeter than a liberty print floral or a teddy bear tracksuit? We’re also loving all things pastels – and that tie-dye jumper? Too cute!
3. Transeasonal sets
One of the things we LOVE about H&M are their sets – they take the hard work out of dressing your little one – just grab and go. Think lightweight enough that they can work for sunny mornings or chilly afternoons.
4. Basics are key
Did we already mention layering is key? So you need a staple of basics that can go under outfits – but that are also nice enough to wear as outerwear.
5. Let the sun shine
As the weather warms up, that means one thing to toddlers: water play so don’t forget to update their swim game with adorable swimsuits and of course, sun-safe rashies are key!
6. Adorable accessories
Accessories are key each season, think sun-safe hats, sweet kicks and ALL the socks. (But seriously, where do all the socks go though?)
Before hitting the shops it’s always a good idea to do a stocktake of your little one’s current wardrobe situation. What still fits, what works for the warmer months, and what can you give away or pack away for another sibling?
Don’t forget that H&M have a recycling program that lets you earn conscious points for doing so! Learn more.
Then make a list of what you need, here are some suggestions:
- Lightweight jacket
- Lightweight knitwear or sweats
- Dresses
- Shorts
- Leggings
- Basics – perfect for layering under outfits for those cooler days
- Socks
- Hats
- Shoes
- Swimwear
Then once you’ve got your game plan it’s happy shopping!
