Your new favourite shows coming to Stan this August

Stan has just released their lineup for August, and we couldn’t be happier with what’s coming. In particular, they’ve got an amazing list of films. First up is Bohemian Rhapsody (2018), which won many Academy awards. If you haven’t yet had the pleasure of seeing it, now’s your chance! This dramatic retelling of Freddie Mercury’s life will have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end.

Another popular drama gracing our screens this month is Fight Club. Unless you’ve been living under a rock since it came out in 1999, we’re certain you’ve heard of it. In Fight Club, we follow a white-collared insomniac as he joins forces with a soap salesman to create an underground fight club. See it again or see what all the fuss is about!

While we’re all hyped up on the feminist messages from Barbie and Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, why not keep it going with Spice Girls: How Girl Power Changed The World: Season 1? This show features archive footage and interviews from the Spice Girls’ rise to fame in the 90s. It also discusses in detail how the the girl group influenced the feminist movement and gave power to women around the world.

Another great film coming to Stan for girls’ night is 13 Going on 30. This rom-com is all you and your tween could ever need in a movie: it’s funny, magic-filled, romantic, and features Jennifer Garner. I mean, does it get much better?

For younger kids who can’t yet appreciate the magic of Jennifer Garner, Stan is also debuting Ben 10 Vs. The Universe: The Movie along with Ben 10: Destroy All Aliens. These kids’ sci-fi adventures star Ben, a kid with a watch that allows him to shape-shift into different alien forms. With it, he fights all sorts of galactic villains with the help of his cousin, Gwen, and his grandfather, Max.

Lastly, if you’re looking for a more adult movie, try It Follows, a chilling horror/thriller film. It stars teenager Jay, who suddenly learns she is the latest recipient of a curse passed via sexual intercourse. Essentially, a shape-shifting monster will slowly walk her direction until it touches her or the curse is passed onto someone else. Riddled with guilt at the thought of passing it on, she desperately tries to find a way to kill it before it comes too close.
