It’s almost Easter which means it’s also almost that time when you are tasked with figuring out what to do with your kids while they are off of school. This, typically, involves a whole lot of strategising how the heck to keep them off of their screens and out in the wild – or at least the backyard. Thankfully, each state has a variety of fun activities that kids and parents can enjoy – and we’ve rounded up some of our favourites. Read on for some inspo that will make the Easter holidays a cinch, no matter where you are.
New South Wales
We’re sure you’re familiar, but The Sydney Royal Easter Show is a celebration of Australian culture, from rural traditions to modern day lifestyles.
Enjoy twelve days of non-stop entertainment, animal experiences and competitions, carnival rides and games, showbags, activities and more.

Giant Easter Egg Hunt at Jamberoo
This season the trend of recent years continues with individually prepared bags of chocolate Easter eggs being handed out to all children aged 4-12 years when they enter the park.
Be early! From 10 – 11am the Easter Bunny and Sammy the Shark will start handing out the eggs and they will be available for photos near the park entrance – so bring your camera and share the fun with #jamberooactionpark on Facebook and Instagram.
There will also be Shaunicus the Magician from 9.45am – 12.45pm, an Easter Hamper Guessing Competition, and other competitions and giveaways around Outback Bay all day long!

Peppa Pig at SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium and WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo
From 1 April – 23 April, little piggies are invited on an interactive adventure that includes meeting new animal friends, jumping in muddy puddles, as well as solving fun and informative challenges along the way. And of course, adventurers can meet Peppa herself at her live meet and greets!
At SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium, Peppa’s aquarium adventure will lead you to various interactive stations where you can help Peppa count all the starfish, find all the hidden seahorses, and help the clownfish find its way back home. Along the way, you will meet some incredible creatures and discover how to keep them safe in our oceans.
At WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo, follow Peppa Pig’s outback adventure as you journey through the zoo completing fun activities and making furry, feathery and scaly friends along the way!

Circus Monoxide’s April School Holiday Program
Students can learn everything from trapeze to tumbling, tight-wire to juggling! The days are filled with games, energy filled obstacle courses and FLYING (off the Giant swing).
The program is taught by experienced trainers and industry professionals, your child will enjoy 7 HOURS A DAY of supervised, spirited FUN.

Easter Bunny and Dino Egg Hunt at Hunter Valley Gardens
One of the biggest family-friendly Easter events in Sydney is not to be missed this year!

Kids Collective Easter school holiday program takes place at Roma Street Parkland with free activities for children aged 5-12 years.
Pre-booking is not required, Kids Collective has returned to drop-in classes with no capacity limit to offer flexibility for parents and guardians.
You’re welcome to drop in any time between 9am and 1pm.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show
Alongside The Very Hungry Caterpillar, the show features three other Eric Carle stories. These beloved tales and their messages of community, self-expression, and the power of creativity are brought to life by a captivating cast of storytellers, sweeping original music, and stunning puppetry.

Victoria
Collingwood Children’s Farm is a working community farm open year-round.
Activities include:
- Meet the Guinea Pigs
- Cow brushing in the barn
- Egg grading
- Watch the pigs feeding
Additionally, during the Victorian school holidays, children aged 8-14 can enjoy the farm’s Farmer for a Day program which gives them a behind-the-scenes tour to see what it takes to run a community farm, then get involved by getting up close with some of our animals and picking up the tools to do farm work and a workshop.

The Bendigo Easter Festival will take place between 7 – 10 April 2023 with a number of activities planned around the CBD area. Family activities and attractions include Farmer Darryl’s petting zoo, carnival rides, the Rotary Art Show, traditional Chinese performances and events at the Discovery Science and Technology Centre. There is a jam-packed roster of events taking place at the festival this year, meaning there’s something that’s sure to interest and engage every single member of the family!

This festival celebrates the mythical creature of the Unicorn and offers visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in a world of fantasy and magic.
Dress up and enjoy various interactive activities for all ages, including Unicorn petting, Unicorn-themed arts and crafts, live performances and festivities. Plus, Unicorn themed food, face-painting and show bags that bring the world of Unicorns to life.

Australian Capital Territory
Outdoor inflatable obstacle course will be back in the Parliamentary Triangle during the school holidays between 7th – 23rd April.
The obstacle course measures almost 300 metres in length, with 30 fun and challenging obstacles to complete including huge slides, climbing walls, hanging rails, balance balls and more. There are 4 sessions per day and tickets can be purchased at the event, although they strongly suggest booking online to avoid disappointment.

Easter Egg Hunts & Night Trains
The Canberra Miniature Railway is holding its Easter extravaganza, one of the most popular events of the year, this time with two nights to double the capacity.
Rides run between 5pm and 8pm so start in the daylight and end in the dark under lights, but the big hits are the two Easter egg hunts, at 5:30pm and 6:30pm each day, where there are 4000 Easter eggs to find! A great fun event not to be missed.

Darwin Symphony Orchestra: Witladla
Larrakia Elder Aunty June Mills tells the story of the little owl, Witladla, and his lost necklace. Filled with original songs, puppets that reference traditional Larrakia designs and fun actions, your children are sure to be singing and dancing in no time!

Step back in time and encounter a life-sized Tyrannosaurus Rex and its dinosaur friends at DinoFest Dinosaur Festival at the Adelaide Botanic Garden. This exciting outdoor kid-friendly event will take children on a thrilling adventure through the gardens back to the ancient and lost world of the dinosaurs.
There will be an opportunity to meet life-size walking Triceratops, Tyrannosaurus and Carnotaurus as well as lots of cute baby dinosaurs. They also have a special VIP mystery guest dinosaur who’s making her first DinoFest appearance!

Easter Egg Hunt and Family Picnic
The fun will begin from 10.00am and will continue until 2.00pm. Entertainment will be provided thanks to some of Hobart’s most engaging entertainers, face painters and communications providers.
This year kids aged between four to fourteen years of age will be given a set of clues that will lead them on an exciting egg hunt throughout the Botanical Gardens. Once the kids have solved their gardens quest, they will be led to a secret location to receive a special bag filled with plenty of chocolate Easter eggs!
