The best of the best Easter events Sydney

Easter is the one time of year when stuffing all your eggs into a single basket is deemed to be a great idea! But hey, just because it works for chocolate doesn’t mean it works for all your weekend plans.

If your little bunnies are bouncing off the walls and you need just enough structured chaos to sip your coffee without someone demanding a snack they’ll refuse to eat, we’ve got you covered.

We’ve researched for you, and here are some egg-citing Easter events in Sydney to keep the kids busy this Easter long weekend.

Top Easter festivals and shows in Sydney

The Sydney Royal Easter Show

Where: Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park
When: 11 to 22 April 2025
Tickets: From $18 per child and $25 per adult (discounts for early bookings and family packages)
Details: eastershow.com.au

We’re starting with one of our all-time favourite Easter activities for kids – The Sydney Royal Easter Show. This will be held in Sydney Olympic Park from 11th April to 22nd April 2025.

And even though Easter Sunday doesn’t align with the Sydney Royal Easter Show this year, you can still enjoy it in the lead-up to the long weekend. First held in 1823, this grand show is an unmissable highlight of Easter events in Sydney, celebrating Australian culture with:

  • Carnival rides: Enjoy classic Ferris wheels, roller coasters and the Kids’ Carnival with dodgem cars and carousels
  • Farm animals: Visit the petting zoo to meet cute sheep, cows, as well as cuddle baby goats.
  • Show bags and funky food: Enjoy savoury treats and rare food combinations.
  • Live entertainment: Enjoy amazing stunt shows and performances.
  • Competitions and games: Go ahead and try your luck at the Easter hamper guessing contest!

Avoid parking stress and take public transport – trains and buses run frequently to Olympic Park and are often included in your ticket. Early bird deals also mean more money for showbags (which are great Easter gifts for kids) and snacks.

Sydney Family Show – Entertainment Quarter

Where: The Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park
When: 28 March – 21 April 2025
Tickets: From $25, with additional ride and showbag packages

Don’t miss:

  • Bunny meet-and-greets

  • Stage shows with dancing, music and magic
  • Giant inflatable obstacle courses and interactive games

Perfect for younger kids who might find the Easter Show a little overwhelming, this event is more compact and easy to navigate.

It’s always a win when you can find an indoor activity for the Easter break.

This pantomime-style performance of Little Red Riding Hood is a family-friendly, funny, and just the right length to keep younger kids engaged without pushing attention spans.

There’s music, dancing, and plenty of moments for kids to shout out from their seats (yes, that’s encouraged). And because it’s indoors, it also makes a great weather-proof backup for the Easter long weekend or school holiday plans.

Good to know:

  • Best suited for kids aged 3–10
  • Sessions run multiple times daily, including weekend matinees
  • Close to cafés and parking, so you can easily pair it with lunch or a post-show treat

Glenworth Valley’s Giant Easter Egg Hunt

When: Saturday, 19 April 2025

Just an hour from Sydney, this event is set in a gorgeous bushland valley and gives little ones the chance to run wild (in the best way) while searching for chocolate eggs scattered across open fields.

The hunt is split into age-based sessions so it doesn’t turn into a full-contact sport, and the Easter Bunny even pops in for a visit.

You’ll also find:

  • Pony rides and face painting
  • A jumping castle and other kid-friendly games
  • Food stalls and coffee (yes, real coffee)
  • Extra adventure options like kayaking or horse riding, if you want to make a day of it

Spots are limited and bookings are essential, so it’s a good one to lock in early.

Easter Sunday at Jamberoo Action Park

Where: Jamberoo Action Park, just south of Wollongong
When: Sunday, 20 April 2025
Tickets: From $59.99 per person (under 3s free)
Details: jamberoo.net

Easter Sunday at Jamberoo is a full-throttle day out that ticks all the boxes – water rides, space to roam, and plenty to keep the kids busy from morning to meltdown.

There’s a giant egg hunt across the grounds, roving performers, giveaways and (of course) an Easter Bunny appearance.

And when the eggs have been found?

  • Cool off in the wave pool or lazy river
  • Race down water slides (or supervise from the sidelines with a snack in hand)
  • Hit up kiddie areas like Billabong Beach for smaller splash-friendly fun
  • Refuel at the park’s cafes or bring your own picnic

Just prepare for tired kids and wet towels in the back seat on the way home. In other words, a recipe for a good nap.

Heading to Sydney? Here's what to expect

April in Sydney typically brings mild and pleasant weather. With average daytime temperatures hovering around a comfy 23°C, it’s the perfect time to let your little ones run wild in search of chocolate treasures. Night-time lows are near 15°C.

While there’s only a hare of a chance of rain, the overall climate is generally favourable for outdoor activities.

Essential tips for surviving Easter events with kids

Easter events are all fun and games, until someone has a meltdown over a melted chocolate bunny. If you’ve ever braved a crowded event with little ones, you’re probably nodding along, recalling the last time you swore never again – yet here you are.

Here are some tips that will definitely help your next endeavour:

Pack snacks: Hungry kids are cranky kids. Bring easy, mess-free snacks to keep energy levels up between egg hunts and parades.

Scout the nearest bathrooms: The moment you hear “I need to go NOW!” is never convenient. Locate restrooms upon arrival to avoid frantic, last-minute sprints.

Prepare for traffic and parking woes: If it’s a big event, assume parking will be a nightmare. Arrive early, look up alternative parking areas, and consider public transport if possible. If you must drive, bring entertainment (songs, audiobooks, or games) for any traffic delays.

First aid and comfort essentials: Scraped knees, sunburns, and mystery goo happen. Pack a small first aid kit with band-aids, antiseptic wipes, sunscreen, and bug spray. Also, have hand sanitizer and wet wipes handy – sticky hands and Easter go hand in hand.

Schedule breaks and downtime: Easter excitement is real, but so is overstimulation. Plan quiet breaks with a shady spot or a calm activity to avoid mid-event exhaustion and tantrums.

Dress for the occasion (and the weather): That adorable bunny costume is great until your kid is sweating buckets or freezing mid-event. Check the weather forecast and dress in layers. Comfortable shoes are a must because those tiny feet will cover a lot of ground.

Plan for sensory breaks: With so much to do and so much happening, it’s easy for kids and adults alike to feel overwhelmed. So take a break and scout out a quiet spot where you and the kids can take a breather, whether it’s a picnic area, a shady tree, or a cosy corner at the event.

Have a lost kid plan: Even with the best supervision, kids wander. Teach them what to do if they get lost: identify event staff or security, stay in one place, and know your phone number (or wear an ID bracelet with your contact info). A bright outfit or a unique hat can also make them easier to spot in a crowd.

Budget for the extras: Yes, the event itself might be free, but somehow, you always end up spending money on overpriced snacks, souvenirs, and last-minute rides. Use those early-bird discounts, set a spending limit, let older kids know what they can pick, and bring cash if vendors don’t accept cards.

Wrapping it up

Buttery hot cross buns, sticky fingers, chocolate stains, and an unusual amount of farm animals for the city – there’s nothing quite like Easter.

Now that your calendar is sufficiently crammed (you cannot be wondering what to do during Easter holidays anymore), we hope you enjoy the magic of this time together.
