As parents, it is our role to raise the next generation of critical thinkers and doers. Whilst their brain might not be able to fully process the information we share with them, they are constantly making connections and forming ideas about the world around them.
We know the best way to raise kids to take on the values that are important to us is through what we model. However, we also know that kids ‘bed down’ this learning, and make sense of their world through play.
When we create a supportive play environment, our children can feel confident to try new things, share their thoughts and form their own values and opinions.
Genevieve Muir from Connected Parenting helps us understand the power of play for children for exploring concepts relating to the world around them. It is during those moments of play, that they feel free to replicate what they see, ask questions and form their own values and opinions.
