Kids don’t need designer clothes. You can make their wardrobe cute and kid-friendly

First things first - kids are just cute by default. Whether they’re decked out in Gucci or running around in neon light-up sneakers, they’re going to tick the ‘adorable’ box. Especially in the eyes of a parent, because even as tiny alien-looking babies, you believed no human has been that perfect (rose-coloured glasses, am I right?).
But then enter celebrities, reality TV, and social media trends that show off kids who look more high-end than your entire wardrobe put together.
A standard has been set that glamorises designer brands as the epitome of fashion and sophistication. We see them parading their children in head-to-toe luxury labels, and suddenly, the world as we know it has undergone a shift. This is the bare minimum. The new norm. So it’s safe to say, the pressure is definitely high.
But dressing your kids like mini-celebrities a) doesn’t necessarily make them fashionable, and b) ruins the joy of dressing up however they want – which you only really get as a kid.
Instead, there’s a way in that still hits the cuteness mark, has an elevated feel (as in – makes them seem more put together than they are), and doesn’t cost a couple thousand. That’s what we’re running you through.

The bigger picture of kid fashion
If the above options still feel a little steep for your child who regularly gets dinner all over their shirt – don’t sleep on classic Australian stores such as Big W, Kmart, and Target. They’ve seriously upped their game in recent years, with plenty of cute outfits to prove it.
And for the parents who don’t have time to browse 10 stores just to create one outfit, that’s also completely fine. One session in David Jones or Myer gives you access to heaps of brands all at once – the perks of a good ‘ol department store.
Plus, with online shopping becoming increasingly popular, you can explore a wide range of options from the comfort of your own home, making it easier than ever to find the perfect pieces for your little ones.
Wrapping it up
Dressing children should not be a stressful job. Thanks to their naturally vibrant and playful nature (and inherit cuteness), they don’t need much to stand out or feel special, especially not designer labels that have no meaning to them.
So let’s all ditch the designer dressing and focus on making kids look cute in a way that’s as practical as it is cute, and, above all, authentic. Because when it comes down to it, the most fashionable thing a child can wear is a genuine smile and a heart full of confidence (cheesy, but true).
