Baby Names Inspired by The Summer I Turned Pretty

I’m going to put it out there…

I feel like nearly every woman of baby making age at the moment has a closeted (or not) obsession with the TV series adaption of Jenny Han’s books – The Summer I Turned Pretty. If you haven’t watched it… time to get binging. Whether you’re team Conrad or team Jeremiah (or let’s be real, just here for the beach house aesthetic), we’ve pulled together the ultimate baby name list inspired by The Summer I Turned Pretty.

These names bring the perfect blend of beach, romance, and just the right amount of teen angst.

We’ve also workshopped nicknames and name twins so that if your partner isn’t as on-board with the whole idea of having your kid named after a teen romance series, you might still be able to sneak your name choice through!

1. Isabel

Nicknames: Belly, Izzy, Belle, Bels

Isabel Conklin is our sun-kissed, slightly chaotic heroine – and her nickname “Belly” is as cute as it is unexpected (how did they get from Isabel to Belly? No one knows. Let’s just roll with it).

Why we love it:
It’s classic, elegant, and surprisingly versatile. Want something sweet and literary? Go with Isabel. Want something more fun? Call her Belly – just be prepared for strangers to ask, “Wait, is that short for something?”

Name twins: Annabel, Mirabel, Arabella

2. Conrad

Nicknames: Connie (only if you’re feeling brave), Rad, C, Con

Conrad is the brooding beach boy with a penchant for meaningful stares and walking away at just the wrong moment. The name gives vintage drama and low-key posh energy.

Why we love it:
It’s a strong, stoic kind of name… like the type of guy who journals in a leather moleskine notebook and smells a bit of sunscreen and existential dread.

Name twins: Everett, Sebastian, Heath

3. Jeremiah

Nicknames: Jem, Remy, J, Jemmy

Jeremiah is sunshine in human form. He has a big golden retriever energy, and he’s always down for a hug. It’s the kind of name that pairs well with a messy bun and iced coffee… or in another era, perhaps a bible.

Why we love it:
It’s warm, charming, and totally underused. Plus, “Jem” is giving classic literary vibes (any To Kill a Mockingbird fans here?).

Name twins: Elias, Malachi, Nathaniel

4. Laurel

Nicknames: Laur, Lo, Lorey, Lozza, Loz

Laurel (Belly’s mum,) is the grounded, wine-sipping, novel-writing queen of this whole operation. If you want a name that says “I’m calm, collected, and probably own linen trousers and funky spectacles,” this is it.

Why we love it:
It gives a natural organic vibe without being too out-there. It’s soft and strong at the same time… like someone who’d calmly solve a crisis and bake banana bread from scratch.

Name twins: Hazel, Juniper, Wren

5. Taylor

Nicknames: Tay, T, Tay-Tay (yes, she’d approve)

Taylor is the bestie we all need… bold, loyal, and always here to stir the pot just enough. A little chaos? A little glam? A little truth bomb at the wrong moment? 100%.

Why we love it:
It’s cheeky, gender-neutral, and gives total “cool kid who’s already planning their festival outfit” energy. Also: Taylor Swift. Enough said.

Name twins: Sloane, Riley, Quinn

6. Susannah

Nicknames: Suki, Sunny, Suze, Nana (just kidding… kind of)

Susannah is the elegant heart of the Fisher family. If you want a name with deep grace and “makes a perfect cup of tea” vibes, this is the one.

Why we love it:
It’s sophisticated but soft, classic but not overdone… you barely hear of babies being called Susannah anymore. And “Sunny” as a nickname? Literal sunshine.

Name twins: Josephine, Louisa, Marianne

Honourable Mentions (aka names we just had to sneak in)

  • Steven – Belly’s brother. Slightly sarcastic, surprisingly wise. A classic boy-next-door name that’s ready for a comeback.
  • Cousins – Not an actual name, but if you’re going full beach-core, Cousins could make a cute middle name? Or dog name? We’re not judging.
  • Cam – As in “Cam Cameron.” Alliteration king. Nerdy-charming. Possibly on your trivia team one day.

Tips for Channeling The Summer I Turned Pretty in Your Baby Name

If your other half definitely isn’t on board with calling your baby Conrad Jeramiah, or Belly Taylor, try out some of the below inspo ideas:

  • Go Coastal: Think beachy but not basic. Names that feel like they’d wear white linen and drink lemonade on a porch.
  • Add Drama (lightly): A good baby name has just a touch of soap-opera-worthy flair. Susannah, Conrad – they all bring the drama, but make it fashion.
  • Think in Nicknames: From Belly to Jem to Suze, the nicknames are half the fun. Choose something you love in full and short form.
  • Middle Name Magic:
    • Isabel January (because Belly + summer (January for us antipodeans) = perfection)
    • Conrad James (brooding but grounded)
    • Jeremiah Leo (sunny and bold)
    • Taylor Skye (a little nod to Swift and sunsets)
    • Susannah Pearl (so coastal, so classic)

Wrapping Up

Whether you’re dreaming of warm nights at Cousins Beach or just want a name that brings a little summer magic to your life, these The Summer I Turned Pretty-inspired names are perfect for your very own mini main character.

And hey, if you end up with twins? Jeremiah and Conrad. Let the drama begin!
