I never set out for Minimuds to be a “brand” in the traditional sense. It started as a practical solution in a backyard shed in Northeast Victoria, trying to make everyday outdoor life with three little boys slightly less crazy.

Living in a place where weather and landscape can be both beautiful and brutal, I needed gear that actually worked. Not just for one child, or one season, but for real family life across different seasons, ages, needs and stages.

Over time, that thinking has grown into a considered range. From waterproof outerwear to carriers, pram cocoons, soft flexible thermal lined footwear and everyday essentials, each piece is purpose driven and born from genuine need rather than trend.

I still make a collection of pure cotton clothing in store, something that began as a solution for children who couldn’t tolerate sunscreen, or needed cool, breathable, sun safe layers for bush kinder.

That same approach continues across the range, with a strong focus on comfort, durability and thoughtful design for busy families, and a quiet underlying mission to make life easier for those (like me, a few decades ago) navigating the challenges of kids with different needs, sensitivities and ways of being.

Materials matter. I’ve learned the hard way that if it doesn’t feel right or hold up, it gets ditched fast, and the whole outing usually follows.

It’s a simple shift, but one that changes how a product feels and performs in real life. Every piece is designed to handle real conditions, using high quality materials and manufacturing that stands up to repeated, heavy use.

Minimuds reflects a very Australian way of living. Practical, outdoorsy and grounded. It’s not about over designing or over promising, but about creating gear that works well, lasts the distance and can be handed on from one child to the next.

Because when the gear works, families get outside with less stress. Kids stay comfortable for longer. Everyone gets more out of the experience.

And yes, there’s still poo and tears and snot along the way, but there’s also space to breathe, relax and reconnect.

That’s the game changer.
