LEGO® DUPLO® 2025 Range: Expert’s Review

Before becoming a parent, you thought you had it all figured out. Your hypothetical offspring would be well-behaved, wear cloth nappies (for the planet), eat only the finest home-cooked organic meals, and have no screen time.

But it doesn’t take long to figure out there is so much more to know, especially when it comes to their development.

Thankfully, much of their essential skill learning comes from doing what they love most – play!

LEGO® DUPLO®’s 2025 range is intentionally designed to nurture your little one’s cognitive, social, motor, and emotional growth. All while they have tons of fun (and bond with you!)

LEGO DUPLO range in-depth review by Kiindred

About LEGO® DUPLO®

Known for its bright colours, playful sets, and easy-to-handle bricks,  LEGO® DUPLO® uses building bricks to cultivate learning through play for toddlers aged 18 months and over.

It’s designed for tiny fingers and growing minds, focusing on nurturing early development brick-by-brick.

Why you should buy the range: Product benefits

Making numbers and letters fun

Early learning is easiest when your kid doesn’t even realise it’s happening. The more fun, the better.

The LEGO® DUPLO® Number Train – Learn to Count set is packed with educational and creative activities, including 10 colourful number bricks for toddlers to load, unload, stack and sort. Three wagons click together to make a moveable train your little one can pull around their playroom (so watch where you step).

It comes with a toddler-friendly play mat featuring full-sized images of the completed train set in all its colourful glory. This way, even toddlers new to brick building can enjoy the set.

We also love the fun mini figures (including a tiny dog!) that can help bring the set to life with storytelling and role play.

On the flip side, the LEGO® DUPLO® Alphabet Truck introduces letter recognition and simple word-building with stackable letter bricks that click onto a driveable truck. Your child can make words of their own, group the letters by colour, or just throw out the rules and create something completely different (as kids often do).

And (adorableness alert) there’s also a toy stereo element you can use so that it looks like the cute characters are singing or reading the ABCs!

Open-ended play to spark creativity

When we let our kids take the imaginary wheel, playtime takes on a new level of magic and wonder.

Granted, it’s very much chaos. But even when it might not seem like it, every moment is helping your little one grow, learn, create, and connect the dots.

The LEGO® DUPLO® Deluxe Brick Box is perfect for this. Packed with classic bricks, number bricks, wheels, windows, slides, cars, flowers, and figures, your little one can build whatever their heart desires. They get free reign to colour outside the lines.

Another set we love for open-ended play is the LEGO® DUPLO® 3in1 Balancing & Stacking set. Toddlers can experiment with stacking, balancing, and building their own wobbly animal creations.

Plus, you get two super cute baby owl figures.

Learning about the world through role-play

We all know how much toddlers love to mimic the world around them. It’s a crucial part to how they make sense of everything.

The LEGO® DUPLO® Truck & Tracked Excavator lets your child step into the role of a busy builder. The working digger arm and a drivable truck helps them scoop, lift, and move bricks, strengthening their coordination and problem-solving skills with every load.

Your child can create imaginative construction site scenes with the two construction workers, decked out in their high-vis vests.

Meanwhile, the LEGO® DUPLO® Ambulance & Driver set introduces little ones to the idea of helping others.

Firstly, we love that the building instructions feature a printed play wheel that lets parents and preschoolers explore the girl’s different emotions. It’s a great prompt to identify and talk about emotions. Maybe your little one can even use it to express their own feelings!

The paramedic figure can come save the day with a first aid kid, as your child lifts the removable roof on the ambulance car to pop the characters in.

It’s a seriously amazing tool to teach your child empathy and emotional intelligence.

Interactive play for problem-solving

For toddlers who love action, movement, and surprises,  the LEGO® DUPLO® Interactive Adventure Train is the prezzie to make their eyes light up.

Your child can choose whatever destination they fancy, as this build-and-rebuild toy comes with bricks to build a park, beach, train station, or family home. Kids can control the train’s movements, making it stop, change direction, or play sounds. This encourages logical thinking, sequencing, and early STEM learning.

The toy train plays lights and sounds to take playtime up a level. There’s even a free LEGO® DUPLO® Interactive Trains app that lets toddlers record their own sounds (have fun with that) and drive the train with a portable electronic device.

We should also shout out the LEGO® DUPLO® 3in1 Balancing & Stacking set here as it’s great for problem-solving. Toddlers learn patience as they work out how to stack different elements so the wobbly tree balances.

You’ll never have a dull moment with either of these sets.

We get the chance to see the world through fresh eyes, where a few bricks can turn into an entire story.

Each of these LEGO® DUPLO® sets help our little ones learn and grow in the most exciting and engaging ways. It lets their imagination come to life. If you ask me, that’s one of the most rewarding things as a parent.
