The use of names has changed significantly over time, influenced by historical events, cultural shifts, and technological advancements. For instance, during the Reconstruction Era following the US Civil War, former slaves had to adopt surnames for the first time, symbolizing their newfound freedom and dignity (Facing History & Ourselves, 2022). In modern times, names continue to define individuals, reflecting their identity, nationality, and affiliations.
